Despite the absence of a direct airport, flying to Andorra is quite straightforward because of its proximity to international hubs such as Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS) and Barcelona-El Prat (BCN), as well as the following domestic airports:

  • Girona-Costa Brava (GRO)
  • Lleida–Alguaire (ILD)
  • Andorra–La Seu d’Urgell (LEU)

It’s well accommodated by airlines from the United Kingdom and worldwide. Consequently, flight options for tourists are abundant — even more so if you opt for a private airport transfer to Andorra.

To help you make an informed decision and to make the booking process easier, we’ve compiled some useful information below.

Flights to Andorra

Barring TLS and BCN, which are significant international gateways, Andorra frequenters typically opt for quieter domestic airports owing to their proximity.

Which airport you should fly into depends on what your transfer situation is and where you’re flying from. Depending on these factors, you can choose among the options below.

Barcelona-El Prat (BCN)

BCN is the go-to airport for most travellers wanting to visit Andorra for a ski or summer holiday. This is primarily due to the massive number of national carriers and budget airlines servicing the destination; which is why it’s the busiest airport in Spain.

If you’re keen on driving to Andorra yourself, then flying into BCN is a good idea because you’ll easily find a rental car here. Transfer options from this airport are abundant.

Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS)

TLS is another budget-friendly option for tourists wanting to visit Andorra since it is serviced by low-cost airlines such as easyJet and Flybe. It also serves a range of domestic and international flights.

From here you’ll have access to daily shuttle transfers to Andorra that run thrice a day. Renting a car here and driving up the mountain is not recommended since the roads are prone to poor conditions during winter. However, in summer, it’s a pleasant drive.

Girona-Costa Brava (GRO)

Girona-Costa Brava airport

Girona-Costa Brava is a basic airport served primarily by the UK and some parts of Europe by Ryanair. It’s a great alternative to BCN if you prefer driving to Andorra.

Flying from the UK can be extremely affordable depending on when you buy your tickets; take note that airport transfer options here are hard to find.

Domestic Alternatives

Though Girona, Toulouse, and Barcelona are the main flight options for travelling to Andorra, those who are open to the idea of private transfers or self-driven rental cars can make the most of alternative domestic airports such as:

  • Reus Airport (REU), Catalonia
  • Lleida–Alguaire (ILD), Catalonia
  • Aéroport de Carcassonne (CCF) (LFMK), France
  • Aéroport Sud de France Perpignan (PGF), France

These are all within reach of Andorra and while they’re less popular, they do open up a wider range of flights, especially for people travelling from the UK.

Andorra–La Seu d’Urgell airport

Andorra–La Seu d’Urgell (LESU) is an interesting airport in that it’s a hub for Andorra Airlines and Air Andorra — it’s strategically located barely 25 kilometres from the capital in the province of Lleida.

It’s the airport of choice for many travellers and Andorran locals owing to its proximity. That said, its single asphalt runway spanning 1,400 meters long makes it unsuitable for large and mid-size aircraft.

Additionally, the airport’s 800-meter altitude requires pilots to be proficient in navigating the topographical challenges faced when landing and taking off. This may cause apprehension in people who aren’t used to travelling in small aeroplanes, but rest assured it’s safe.
