Famed for and owned by the Naturland Adventure Park, La Rabasa is ideal for those keen on something other than downhill and off-piste skiing.
The ski area is known for its 15 km network of machine-groomed Nordic ski trails suitable for a vast range of skill levels.
Cross-Country Skiing in Andorra
Nordic or cross-country skiing is a catch-all term for various disciplines of skiing where the toe of the ski boots are fixed to the binding in a way that lets you raise your heel off the ski.
In this form of skiing, people traverse enormous amounts (relatively) of snow-clad terrain without the use of lifts, telecabinas or any form of assistance. It’s not uncommon for people to use it anyway since XC skiing, especially here in La Rabassa, is a popular recreational activity.
If downhill skiing isn’t for you, then this is the ultimate way to put your endurance to the test and have a ball while at it.
La Rabassa Resort: Piste Map
If you’re just getting started with Nordic or cross-country skiing, the Prat de Conangle and La Verda del Bosc are 2 green runs that are ideal for warming up. There are 2 more longer and easier runs: Cami de les Petjades and Ruta Paquetaires.
More experienced skiers will feel right at home on the blue Pleta de Mules run and red Roca de Pimes slope that extends deep into the forest of La Rabassa, lending itself to breathtaking views.
Where to Stay?
For those wanting communal accommodation, there’s a very cosy hostel located very close to all the activities that the resort offers. Here you can mingle with like-minded travellers and save a good chunk of your travel budget.
Alternatively, there’s the Borda de Conangle Mountain Lodge at an altitude of 2000 meters, where you can sleep amidst nature.
