Soldeu ski resort sees a steady influx of tourists from across the globe, especially from Britain, France, and Spain. That’s thanks to its snow-sure nature, exceptional après-ski environment, and charming snow-clad buildings.
Location and Connectivity
Soldeu is a quaint little ski town burrowed in the heart of the Grandvalira ski area. Accessibility to other resorts in the same area is unparalleled since it links to Encamp, Canillo, Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa, and El Tarter, which is just 1.5 km away.
The village is located at an elevation of 1,710 meters above sea level, with the highest point at 2,580 meters. There’s a telecabina that ascends all the way to 2,250 meters where you’ll find a ski school with restaurants dotted around it.
Since the neighbouring resort of El Tarter is close at hand, you’ll have easy access to L’Abarset — one of the best après-ski spots in all of Andorra.
Skiing Experience
Soldeu features a large selection of wide blues that connect to the neighbouring ski resorts. You’ll find everything from challenging red runs to gentle blue runs, and steep black ones for more experienced skiers.
You also have the option to venture out off-piste and explore high-stakes backcountry runs. That said, you’ll also find many unmarked low-traffic slopes out here.
Novice
Regardless of your skill level, you’ll start by taking the TC8 telecabina up to the slopes where you’ll come across bunny hills where you can take lessons with the ski school.
As your skills progress and you gain more confidence, you can move on to wider blue runs like Astoret, Bosc Fosc, and Ós. Keep at it and you can eventually give Gall de Bosc a go.
Intermediates
Since Soldeu is placed very centrally in Grandvalira, you have the option of heading out in a few different directions from atop the TC8 telecabina.
Even though the Gall de Bosc and Rossinyol blues are exciting enough for intermediates, you don’t want to miss the Salvans and Torrallardona reds. Either that or Riba Escorxada if you’re heading towards El Tarter.
Experts
Without a doubt, the best black run around Soldeu is Avet — it is an FIS-approved black run that frequently hosts internationally recognised competitive skiing events.
There’s also Llebre which, just like Avet, will lead you back to the Soldeu village after briefly venturing into El Tarter. And if off-piste action is what you seek, then Grau Roig is where it’s at.
